PROPOSAL OF ONE ACT PLAYS TO ELEVATE CREATIVE SKILLS AMONG THE LEARNERS
Abstract
One-act play is a superior scheme to teach average students to enhance their special abilities apart from training their speaking abilities. Students who read one-act plays are sure to have an exposure to simple, idiomatic and conversational English. They can also get an idea of current English usage and the appropriate contexts of usage. The one act-play helps the students to absorb the spoken idiom of English through self-reading without any conscious effort. To keep alive, the interest in reading the play and to utilize the text for imparting language skills like listening, speaking, reading and writing is entirely the duty of the teacher. The language components they learn from the one-act play is very useful to them in similar real-life situations that they encounter outside the campus. This is also a strong point for the inclusion of the one-act play in the teaching-learning context in schools and colleges. Fundamental strategies for example inquiring and also answering queries, imitation, and also replacement, question-answer dialogues, day-to-day expression, eliciting, guess and communicate, focused dialogues, information as well as role-play enables you to improve communicating abilities within the language classes. It provides the students opportunities to learn the concepts and techniques in a creative manner and to develop self-confidence in them. The activities, tasks and exercises enable the students to acquire language skills very quickly and a proficient and gifted teacher stimulates in the students the desire to learn the language.
